• Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004).  Starring Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet, Kristen Dunst, Mark Ruffalo, Elijah Wood and Tom Wilkinson.  Directed by one of my favorite directors, Michel Gondry.  The movie follows a tumultuous relationship and the pair’s experimentation in targeted memory deletion.
• Garden State (2004).  Starring Zach Braff, Natalie Portman and Peter Sarsgaard.  Directed by Zach Braff.  The film follows both a character’s journey to his hometown and in internal journey to coming-of-age as well as falling in love.
• Closer (2004).  Starring Jude Law, Julia Roberts, Clive Owen and Natalie Portman.  Directed by Mark Nichols.  The film examines the interconnected relationships of four individuals.  It’s dramatic, raw and rather realistic.
• Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005).  Starring Robert Downey Jr., Val Kilmer and Michelle Monaghan.  Directed by Shane Black.  A darkly comedic tribute to film noir, the dialogue in this film is amongst my favorites.  Witty and hilarious, in my opinion.
• Fight Club (1999).  Starring Edward Norton, Brad Pitt and Helena Bonham Carter.  Directed by David Fincher.  An average Joe meets a supposed soap salesman who turns his life upside down via an underground fight club.  Total mindfuck.
• Heathers (1989). Starring Winona Ryder, Christian Slater, Shannen Doherty.  Directed by Michael Lehmann.  A dark comedy that explores the alienation of high school through outrageously dark situations.  I really mean dark.
